Shooting at sea has been a traditional way of gathering food in Iceland. However, interest in this branch of shooting has been growing especially amongst those clients who have an interest in taxidermy and collecting bird trophies. These sea birds are also quite delicious to dine, witch makes sea bird shooting  really worthwhile. The list of species that may be shot legally is extensive and Iceland is often the only place where hunters can add to their collection..

The coastline of the Reykjanes peninsula is where we do most of the shooting, using a boat that operates out of Keflavík harbor. On board there is room for up to four hunters in the aft section, two on each side of the boat, and the forward cabin provides a warm and sheltered area. The boat is 30-feet in length and is fully equipped with GPS and all necessary safety gear, plus an English speaking and well experienced skipper.

The season for most of the sea birds runs from 1st September to 10th May and the best time for shooting speciments for mounting is during January to March. The birds most likely to be encountered include guillemots (the common and the black varieties), razorbills, cormorants and shags..

Further out are areas where puffin and gannet can be found and at certain times of the year, duck such as the Long-Tail and Scaup can also be shot at sea. This method of shooting can be taken either as a specific trip with four days of shooting, or as a day or days added on to another hunting or late season fishing program. Transport to and from Keflavik harbor each day is included in the package. We process all the necessary documentation that allows clients to take trophies home..
